Bueno, al caída por el hemisferio sur fue agradable. Tras 14h de vuelo hasta Buenos Aires, transbordé- hice cabotaje- allá, tras mucha espera. Otro avión a Mendoza, parando en Córdoba, como un autobús- un colectivo- y tras 2 horas de colectivo, a San Juan, con 38ºC. El apartamento está bien, tele con cable y series en inglés, y la ciudad es tranquila, pero de tráfico caótico. El instituto es un sitio tranquilo, todo el mundo todavía de vacaciones de verano, pero ya conocí a mucha gente. Mi amiga de aquí me lleva a todos los sitios y me enseña la ciudad: hemos visto monumentos, la catedral, el dinosaurio, y muchas tiendas buscando adaptadores eléctricos y demás.

El viernes quedamos con todos los colegas de por aquí a cenar arepas y tacos, las arepas eran raras pero los tacos muy ricos. El restaurante estaba en un jardín muy bonito.  Ahí estaban dos hijas de las compañeras, y la de 4 años me miraba y luego me preguntó: ‘hablás inglés?’ Yo le dije que sí, pero por ahí no iban los tiros. Como vio que hablaba raro, más que ‘gallega’ pensó que era gringa, jajaja. Aquí, en cuanto abro la bocaza, ya saben de dónde vengo y me preguntan con curiosidad, ya que esta ciudad no es superturística.

El sábado salí, quería ir a Aerolíneas Argentinas a preguntar qué puedo hacer con los vuelos de cabotaje, porque en la web de aquí son en pesos -baratos- pero si no eres argentino te hacen ir a la web europea, que está en euros y vale 3 veces más :S El caso es que todo cierra a la 13h, la hora de almorzar, así que no hice nada salvo comprar un mate. El mate es más complicado de lo que parece de hacer, por las proporciones. Si le echas mucha agua, se relava, y se queda amargo. No conseguí hacerlo bien, así que a ver si aprendo…

En sólo 1 semana, la relación idiomática es divertida: se ríen de las ‘z’ y ‘c’ españolas, me han dicho que hablo como en el Cantar del Mío Cid (jajaja), y hemos aprendido palabras de los dos lados del charco. En sólo este tiempo, a mí me parece que mis ‘z’ son muy fuertes y que la que hablo raro soy yo, jaja.

El domingo estuve en casa de mi coleguita con la familia, la gente es mu agradable y siempre te cuida mucho.

Cosas características de por aquí: estamos cerca del desierto, y en verano -casi todas las noches- hay tormentas de polvo y tormentas secas, un montón de rayos que no hacen nada.

I arrived here down under quite fine. After 14h  flight to Buenos Aires, i had to wait a lot to get the domestic flight to Mendoza, which stopped also in Córdoba. Taking 2h-long trip bus to San Juan, and i arrived to the heat. Here is quiet, people is still on holiday and city is little bit empty but full of chaotic traffic, people in the park at sunset or in a chair in the doorway, or just in the street. Mi friend and colleague here carried me to see the most relevant stuff downtown, shopping and walking a bit. People just disappear at siesta time and shops close at 13h.

Here we’re quite close to the desert, so at night it usually appear dust storms and no rain, some of them bring lot of thunder and lightning.

On Fri we went for tacos with all guys of the institute, nice young people, most of them with  kids. One of these kids, a girl asked me ‘do you speak English’ in Spanish, and i say yes, but i didn’t catch why: as my accent sounds weird, she thought that i was ‘gringa’ -from USA- but not from Spain, haha.

On sat, just wanted to go to a flight company to see how can i buy my flights cheaper -webs here offer flights on local coin, pesos, but just if you’re Argentinian! If not, you have to purchase in the european web in euros, 3x more expensive 🙁 I found that all shops were closed at 13h, and i just went siesta home, after buying a ‘mate’ to try to prepare this drink, similar to tea. Proportions are not easy to get, and can become very bitter if water is too hot… is kinda tricky as green tea.

On sunday i was invited to my friend’s home to get lunch with all family, and was so funny.  All the language expressions sound weird and they make fun of me and the other way round 🙂 But i’m learning a lot, and they imitate the Spanish accent and sound funny too 🙂
